Lower Milford Fire Company #1 Ambulance Corps passed a state inspection on December 28, 2009 and continues to be licensed to provide emergency medical services to Lower Milford Township and the surrounding communities.
To pay for our state certified ambulance
and the building that houses it, our all volunteer crews fund raise
through events such as community dinners; however, our annual subscription
drive is very important. Here's how it works:
- Fees: We ask that each household contribute $40 for coverage, which includes parents, children and senior citizens 65 and older living in the same house. The cost is $25 for a senior citizen household, $35 for an individual, and $50 for a school or church. For businesses, we request that you contribute based on the number of employees: 0-5 - $35; 6-15 - $50; 16-50 - $100; 51 or more - $150. Money received goes toward ambulance service only and is completely separate from the fire fund drive.
- A paramedic response in addition to ours is determined by a dispatcher determining the severity of the reported emergency or our determination when we arrive.
- Insurance billing: Costs associated with ambulance runs will be submitted to your insurance company. However, insurance companies often reimburse us only a portion of what is billed, as with doctors and hospitals. All billable calls in which South Mountain Area Medic V assists with will have the reimbursement split 50/50 between Lower Milford Township Fire Company Ambulance Corps and South Mountain Area Medic V. For example, if the amount paid by the insurance company is $1,000.00, then we get $500.00 and South Mountain Area Medic V gets $500.00. Our base rate is currently $400.00 and mileage is $12.00 per loaded mile (from the incident location to the hospital). Base rate is higher for ALS service: ALS1 - $850.00 and ALS2 $950.00.
If you are a subscriber, you are not responsible for the balance. A non subscribing patient would be billed the difference. This standard practice is necessary for us to continue offering service to the community. The subscription drive runs for one year beginning in fall. However, if you are new to the township or did not receive a subscription form, please email Lower Milford Fire Company or call 610-967-0411.
